Dr. Rochling received his medical degree in 1989 from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He completed an internship at Newcastle General Hospital in England in 1990 and did an internal medicine residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, from 1990 to 1993. From 1993 to 1995, he completed a hepatology fellowship at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and a gastroenterology/hepatology fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from 1995 to 1998. 
Dr. Rochling is a professor in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC).He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, gastroenterology and transplant hepatology. His clinical interests include liver disease, liver cancer and short bowel syndrome.
